A Gentle Journey

Into Stillness and Renewal

Kriya, a Sanskrit word meaning "evolutionary action" or "purifying movement," refers to intentional practices that unite breath, movement, mantra, mudra, and focus. Through these sacred techniques, practitioners learn to direct prana — life-force energy — through the body in purposeful ways.

Evening Kriya Set and Sound Savasana is a mostly seated, meditative practice designed to calm the system and invite peaceful awareness at day's end. Drawing from Sattva Himalayan Kriya, Kundalini, and Bhakti Yoga traditions, each session becomes a unique inner journey.

The evening concludes with a restorative crystal bowl sound healing savasana, allowing the vibrations to integrate your practice and guide you into deep rest and inner harmony.

A Note from Thich Nhat Hanh

Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.

Insight · Worth Knowing Anyway

The Practice Behind the Word

Kriya is one of the most literal words in the yogic vocabulary — and Savasana asks something almost paradoxical of the body.

01

Action, Not Stillness

'Kriya' translates to 'action' or 'completed action' — even the class's quietest seated moments are considered active, purifying technique, not passive relaxation.

02

A Rare Lineage

Sattva Himalayan Kriya is taught by relatively few teachers outside its home tradition, carried through direct transmission rather than standardized certification.

03

Corpse Pose, Literally

Savasana translates to 'corpse pose' — the stillness is meant to mimic death closely enough that the nervous system finally stops bracing for what's next.

Why Attend

Why Attend

A meditative close to the day, blending ancient technique with restorative sound.

Release

Rooted in Sattva Himalayan Kriya, Kundalini, and Bhakti Yoga traditions, this class guides you to release tension and quiet the mind through breath, mantra, and mudra.

Balance

Kriya channels prana through the body's subtle pathways, cleansing and harmonizing your inner system and balancing your energy.

Rest

The evening closes with a restorative crystal bowl sound savasana, letting the vibrations integrate your practice and guide you into deep rest.

Special Instructions

Before yousettle in

A few small preparations — so the practice can quiet the system and the sound can do its work.

I

Arrive early

Please arrive 10 minutes before start so you can settle onto your mat before the seated kriya work begins — this practice moves inward quickly.

II

What to wear

Loose, comfortable clothing suited to seated meditation. You'll end in savasana for the sound healing portion, so bring a blanket, shawl, or extra layer to stay warm as your body relaxes.

III

What to bring

Your own mat if you have one (some are available on site), and an eye pillow or eye mask if you have one — many find it deepens the sound savasana at the end.

Testimonials

Voices from the Room

I come straight from work and by the end of class my whole nervous system has downshifted. It's become my Tuesday reset.
Dana W.
Melissa creates such a gentle container. The sound savasana at the end is worth the class alone.
James R.
I didn't know what kriya was before this class. Now I look forward to it all week — it's unlike anything else I've tried.
Priya S.
